App pages and compatibility
| Page | What you can do |
|---|---|
| Status | See blocking state per instance, pause blocking, or resume it. Changes to several instances run one instance at a time and report partial failures. |
| Queries | Read merged recent query logs and 24-hour statistics. The page loads when opened or when you click Apply or Refresh. |
| Drift | Compare managed entries across reachable instances. Follow a row’s Fix in link to the owning page; CNAME rows open the CNAME records tab. |
| Instances | Add and remove instances, inspect versions and health, and download Teleporter backups. |
| Local DNS | Compare and edit custom DNS host and CNAME records. Changes use item-level operations. |
| Domains | Manage allow and deny overrides and their groups. |
| Lookup | Look up whether each instance blocks, allows, or does not list a domain. Searches are read-only and run when submitted. |
| Block Lists | Manage subscribed deny lists and their groups. Changed lists mark an instance as pending; Update gravity is a separate, confirmed action. |
| Groups | Manage filtering groups and see differences between instances. |
| Clients | Manage clients and their group membership. |
| Settings | Review a diff and update a small set of settings on one instance. |
| Audit log | Read and filter sign-ins, backup downloads, service actions, and configuration changes. Passwords and session tokens are not recorded. |

Local DNS
Section titled “Local DNS”You compare records in one table across instances. A conflict means a hostname points to different targets. A missing entry exists on some instances but not others. A/AAAA host records and CNAME records have separate tabs.

Lookup
Section titled “Lookup”Lookup derives verdicts from enabled matches in FTL’s precedence order. Group-scoped entries may not apply to every client. Partial searches and exact searches with truncated results show matches without a verdict.

Queries
Section titled “Queries”You see query logs merged newest first, together with summary, top-domain, top-client, and upstream information. This page is read-only.

Pi-hole compatibility
Section titled “Pi-hole compatibility”FilterHelm supports the Pi-hole FTL 6.x REST API. FTL 5.x is incompatible. A newer FTL major version is untested until someone confirms it works.
Update availability comes from Pi-hole’s own version check. When Pi-hole cannot reach its update server, FilterHelm shows the update state as unknown and makes no external request of its own.
